Psychotherapy
Theoretical Perspective
My initial psychotherapy training integrated psychodynamic, attachment, and intersubjectivity theories. Since then I have incorporated trauma-informed, intersectional, anti-oppressive, and queer-supportive practices.
Simply put: we start by increasing your understanding of how you relate to yourself, others, and the wider world.
From there I can support you to better manage, make decisions, and move through your life in a way that better suits you. Paying attention to the interplay between your internal ‘world’ (subjective experience) and the external world is helpful in achieving this.
Getting Started
When you contact me I will offer you a brief phone/Zoom call, which is free of charge. This gives you the opportunity to ask me anything you want to know including how I work and what to expect. I can also to find out a little more about you to see if my skills, and experience match up with what you need.
Your first appointment with me is a consultation. This is a conversation between the two of us which will help me know more about your past and present experiences, what brings you to therapy at this point, and what you would like to change. I can more fully see whether what I have to offer is suitable for you, too.
You get to experience how I work so that you can make an informed decision about whether I'm the right person who can support you.
